Prof. Lyu’s proposal “Informing ozone mitigation in Hong Kong through vertical profiling and modeling” submitted to Research Grants Council under the Early Career Scheme was funded, totaling HK$621,915. The project will start in January 2027 and end in December 2029.
This project seeks to address the long-standing ozone challenge by exploring the vertical dimension of O3 distribution, chemistry, and dynamics, an area that is significantly understudied in HK. We propose an integrated observation–model framework that combines high-cadence unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) vertical profiling, layer-resolved photochemistry simulations, and observation-informed chemical transport modeling.
